Privacy policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
The Northdays app is a calendar, to-do and companion app for iPhone and the web. This page explains what data it uses and why. The short version: your data is yours, it is only used to make the app work, and it is never sold, shared for advertising or used to track you.
Without an account
You can use Northdays without signing in. Your events, to-dos, calendars, chats with Panda and settings are then stored only on your iPhone (or in your browser on the website). Nothing is sent to us.
With an account
If you create an account, Northdays stores the following so you can see your data on all your devices and on the website:
- your email address and a password (handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see your password),
- your own events, reminders and to-dos,
- the calendars you subscribed to (their name, colour and link),
- the text of your saved chats with Panda.
This data is stored with Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). Only you can read or change it when signed in with a confirmed email address.
Panda, voice, camera and photos
- Panda's replies are worked out on your device. Your messages are not sent to an AI service.
- Microphone and speech recognition are only used after you tap the mic button, to turn what you say into text. This uses Apple's speech recognition, which may process audio on Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy.
- Camera and photos are only used when you take or pick a photo yourself, for example for your wallpaper. Photos you show your buddy are read on your device and are not uploaded.
- iPhone calendars: if you allow access, Northdays shows those events inside the app. They are read on your device and are not uploaded.
Notes
If you turn on Notes in the iPhone app, your notes are saved as files on your iPhone or in your own iCloud Drive (your choice). They are never sent to us.
Contact form
The contact form opens your own email app with your message addressed to us. When you send it, we receive your email address, your name (if you added it) and your message. They are only used to answer you and are deleted when no longer needed.
What we don't do
- No ads and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- No selling or sharing of your data with anyone else.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything saved in it online, and removes it from your iPhone. Without an account, deleting the app removes all its data. You can also ask for deletion through the contact form.
Your rights
If you live in the EU, you have the right under the GDPR to access, correct or delete your data, and to complain to your data protection authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). Just send a message through the contact form and we'll help.
Children
Northdays is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
